Old Science

The most intriguing place are the one with the richest history. Bloomsburg University is full of historic buildings with deeper meanings behind them. The Old Science buildings is a prime example of this. This building one of the oldest building at the university. Built in 1906 this historic old brick building is significant in many ways. Home to classes full of cultured professors and bright students the building is valuable to Bloomsburg's history as well as future generations.
Old Science Building

The interview was conducted interview with a teacher who seems to know about the buildings history. The interviews were conducted with Dr.Jeffery Davis, a history professor in The Old Science Building. when asked when the building was built he responded with "The early 20th century,  ."  then asked "what was the building originally built for?" Dr.Davis then informed me that it was originally meant for sciences only, then because home to history courses too, "The name of Old Science was once was once just  Science Hall." This was a surprising to me, due to the age of the building. and the courses it offers. The next question for Dr.Davis, "Whats your opinion on the building?"Ironically, Dr.Davis claims he doesn't like the building because it has too many problems. This is expected with the building being old as this one. Finally, the last question was asked, "If he believes the building is still significant to Bloomsburg?" Dr.Davis answered, "It is a building of history here, but it is the second oldest building on campus." He believes they should build a new building and leave this one be due to the many technology problems as well as the old building itself." By interviewing Dr.Davis, There was a perspective of someone who knows the building well.

Looking at the Old Science building, you wouldn't notice anything special. The old brick blends in perfectly with the rest of campus. The inside, however, gives you a more honest view of the building. Walking in, you notice the old carpeting, old classrooms, as well as musty smell that comes with it. Many classrooms have support beams, which isn't common to see in other buildings on campus. Despite the flaws, this building is beautifully historic. It gives students an insight to how campus life was in the time it was built. In spite of the complaints I've heard, I have a new found appreciation for the building as well as the professors who keep its memory alive.

In conclusion, The Old Science Building has a different impact on everyone who's taught or learned there. The building is old but that's what makes it unique and valuable to Bloomsburg. Thanks to the interview and observations I made, I how understand the whole campus better than I previously did.
