The Sour Side To Sweets By: Ryan Landry.

The Sour Side To Sweets!

Figure 1 Christopher Candy
for sweets is very similar to some adults love for alcoholAlcohol is a drink only for adults over the age of 21 but like sweets too much of it can be a bad thing. Luckily Christopher Candy is here to use his experiences to help explain the bad side effects too much alcohol can have on a person.
I Want VS I Need!                                                                                                        A want is very different from a need. A want is something you like! You can still live without things you like to do or like to have. A need is something you have to have in order to survive. You need to eat food and drink water to keep you alive (Figure 2). Sweets and alcohol are both wants, you can live with out them in your life, but we like the way they taste and make us feel. Most people know when they have had too much
Figure 2 Wants VS Needs
alcohol and know to stop drinking it. However, like Christopher Candy (Figure 1) some people can not tell when they should stop drinking. Christopher Candy (Figure 1) began to think he needed to have sweets, and began to eat them every single day. His parents could not stop him because he was hiding it from them! Christopher Candy (Figure 1) had become ADDICTED to candy. ADDICTION means a person feels that they can not live with out something, their brain can not tell the difference between what should be a want and what is a need. ADDICTION is a sickness that happens in the brain. This sickness is not spreadable like a cold, there are many different causes of it, every person is different (4). Christopher Candy (Figure 1) became ADDICTED to sweets just like some adults can become ADDICTED to alcohol. Too much of a good thing can have very bad effects on a person.
Are your parents always saying "NO!" when you ask for candy while your at the store? Do your parents always keep you from eating all of your Halloween candy in one sitting? Well Christopher Candy (Figure 1) learned the hard way and can agree with your parents on their choices. Christopher Candy's love

The Sour Side!

ADDICTION can lead to many bad things. Christopher Candy (figure 1) had many health problems after eating all his sweets. One huge problem was his teeth, he got so many cavities. Alcohol has similar effects, it leaves stains on peoples teeth because of the color of the drinks and the ingredients in the drinks (2). They also have a greater chance of getting gum diseases, tooth decay and mouth sores (2). Christopher Candy's (Figure 1) stomach used to get very upset after he would eat all his sweets, and he would often throw up. People who are ADDICTED to alcohol get very sick after they drink too much. This is because too much is bad for you and your body wants to get it out of its system. People who drink too much of it will throw up and have very bad pains in their stomach because there stomach is upset that they put such bad things in their bodies (1). Christopher Candy (Figure 1) would wake up the next morning after eating too many sweets and face the same problems people who drank too much alcohol did. He would wake up very late in the day because his body needed sleep to recover from the night before! He would often feel like his room was spinning and felt very dizzy because of all of the sugar. His stomach was so upset that he could not eat for most of the next day! All of these side effects made his parents and family very nervous about him!

Friendship and Family Problems!

When a person gets ADDICTED to drinking alcohol people who care about them get very upset. Friendship is about how you care about the people around you. All the other kids sitting near you are your friends and they care about you and your life just like you care about them! Sadly, ADDICTION can cause problems between you and your friends and your family. Why? This is because your friends and family care and love you and they do not want to see you sick. A lot of times when people drink too much they act like a different
Figure 3 Family problems
person. That is just an effect from drinking too much. Christopher Candy (Figure 1)  was not acting like himself when he had to much sugar in his body. He was lying and hiding this from his friends and family. When his family found out about all the sweets he was eating, they lost their trust and think he is a lair. He also got into a lot of fights with his friends and family. Christopher Candy (figure 1) did not see that his friends and family were just trying to help him and make him better, he started to push them away. Since ADDICTION messes with the mind Christopher Candy (Figure 1) was not thinking right. Adults who are addicted to drinking alcohol experience them same feelings. There is a 50% more chance of adults in relationships who have an ADDICTION to drinking to stop their relationship than those who do not drink (2). This is because the drinking makes the person not who they really are and act differently just like Christopher Candy ( Figure 1) ADDICTION can lead to many upsetting problems with your friends and families.

Too much of a good thing can be bad!

Although we can really enjoy these things, too much of them is very bad for us. We have to listen to our loved ones when they tell us to not have too many because they are just looking out for us. Christopher Candy ( Figure 1) had to learn about ADDICTION the hard way. Hopefully his story has taught you a lot and you can learn from his mistakes!
