Bloomin Bagels

Bloomin Bagels

Your hungover your mouth is on a desert and you have a pounding headache. You walk into Bloomin Bagels and your hit with the smell of freshly baked doe and hash browns. Bloomin Bagels is located at the corner of Iron and Main street. Bloomin is a small bagel and sandwich shop, with 6 small tables. The walls are painted warm and inviting tan that make you feel like your enjoying your sandwich in peace, when really your enjoying your sandwich in a crowded, loud, and cluttered area. As people pour through the door, its followed by stumbling feet and stories from the night before. As you approach the counter you hear yelling in the back about sandwich and who gets what, and about every two minute you hear a name being called for their sandwich. The bright lights reflect of the glazed tables as if they were mirrors and the ground is a rough like walking on gravel. But you can not judge a book by its cover, so appearance has no affect on their business. As any other conventional bagel shop you go to the front counter to order, then wait around or your name to be called, then finally pay and eat. What makes Bloomin different from other bagel places is they offer a whole menu of sandwiches, wraps, muffins and croissants, this extensive menu requires thorough employees.
There are a lot of behind the scenes work in any food shop or restaurant. Starting with the bagels, the bagels and croissants are made every morning at Bloomin. The doe recipes take about 2-3 hours to perfect and then the following morning are baked. The bakers are here from roughly 5:30 AM to around 9:30 AM so it takes about 6-7 hours all together in producing there own bagels. Generally people prefer homemade stuff and that's also how the townies and college kids feel around Bloomsburg. Bloomin's busiest time of the day is from 10 O'clock to about 1 O'clock. The busiest day of the week are Fridays and Saturdays. People do not only get coffee and bagels here, the most popular thing besides bagel sandwiches would be their BLT sandwiches. Along with making their own bagels Bloomin also makes their own flavored cream cheese. They buy plain cream cheese and they combine their special recipes  with the regular cream cheese. Owning a high speed sandwich shop can be tedious and stressful, but if ran correctly can produce a lot of profit like this one.(Cream Cheese Variety above)
When interviewing Michaela from Bloomin I ask many questions involving the working atmosphere that I was so curious about. Michaela claims that Bloomin is a " Electric Atmosphere" and she enjoys it a lot because it is a energetic and flowing environment. Michaela is a energetic and outgoing worker which makes it easy for her to work here. I then asked Michaela, why she choose to apply and work at Bloomin? Michaela said "I wanted to be in a atmosphere where I would see friendly faces and always be moving. It also seems that the whole town gravitates towards Bloomin' and it seems to be a center point of Bloomsburg and I like that." Exclaimed Michaela. She was very joyful even being interviewed during her lunch break. She also told me that luckily if you work a 5 hour shift or longer you get to eat for free. One thing I asked that she found interesting was, Whats your least popular product, she had to think for awhile because everything here is so popular. But she told me how they have cheese burgers and how she has never heard anyone order one. She then told me what the most popular thing on the menu was, being a sausage egg and cheese on a plain bagel.
(Which is scene above)
She told me that she likes working for "Don" and says hes a good owner and good at time management. Bloomin Bagels has another location located on route 11. This shop is a little bigger and more per-stein but does not get the same amount of business, because Bloomin 1 is in walking distance for college kids. Bloomin never fails to disappoint when it come to sandwiches.

After my observation and interview was over, I thanked Michaela for her time and I went on to enjoy a beautiful Buffalo chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and a egg it was delicious, and I as a customer am always satisfied with Bloomin's services
